Growing up as an immigrant in this country,  I have witnessed the many social injustices minorities have to face on a daily basis. The lack of school funding  and support contributes to a large number of youth dropping out of school and in many cases becoming part of the prison population. It is things like this in my community that make me want to reach out to others in need of encouragement and support. As a part of a minority I feel its my responsibility to contribute not only as a citizen but as a human being to the betterment of society.
